With over 10 years of service in Canadian higher education, and over 8 years serving in career development specifically, I recognize the demands of the incoming workforce are changing rapidly. I see my role as one to encourage and guide nimble and resilient students on how to meaningfully contribute and engage in their chosen field or industry with confidence. Most recently, I have taken on the role of Manager, Undergraduate Career Services at the University of Waterloo, where I lead a team of career advisors who use a person-centered and trauma-informed approach to support students navigating difficult situations related to their career. I also have the pleasure of teaching as a part-time faculty member of Conestoga's Career Development Practitioner program in the School of Business. In the course I teach, I have the opportunity to meet, guide, and learn from fantastic students who are looking to branch into the field of career development themselves. I have a Master's degree in Higher Education from the University of Toronto, and a post-grad Career Development Practitioner diploma from Conestoga College, and a Bachelor of Arts degree in History, Psychology, and Theatre Arts at Redeemer. My work has been published in College Quarterly, CACUSS's publication Communique, and Comment Magazine, with an upcoming chapter to be released later this year in a book called Establishing and Maintaining Sustainable Career Ecosystems for University Students and Graduates.
