Dr. Andrés Simón González-Silén is Chairman & co-founder of Asistensi Global Insurance, a company dedicated to provide health insurance for medical emergencies and immediate medical care in Latin America; and co-founder & board director of Venemergencia, the leading company in Venezuela in comprehensive health assistance and road assistance. He began his business career in 2004, while in medical school, with the creation of Venemergencia which employs +500 Venezuelans and provides services to +3.5 million affiliates nationwide, through its telemedicine services, home health care, ambulances, delivery of medicines, roadside assistance and preventive maintenance of vehicles. In addition, it has its non for profit dedicated to professional and community healthcare education. As an international expansion, in 2020 he co-founded Asistensi, becoming the first insurtech company in the world focused on transforming the health remittance market, through the first insurance for medical emergencies designed for the families of migrants in their countries of origin, with 100% online underwriting and no need for medical admission exams. With operations in Venezuela, Mexico, Dominican Republic, Honduras and the Philippines, +200 employees its goal is to be present in at least 15 countries by 2025, thus being able to improve the quality of life of the largest possible number of migrant families in the world. Dr. González-Silén holds an M.D. degree from Universidad Central de Venezuela, a MBA at Instituto de Estudios Superiores de Administración (IESA), a Public Policy and Global Leadership program at Harvard Univsersity, an entrepreneurship program at Babson College and a certificate in Occupational Health from Universidad Paez. His achievements have been recognized through his inclusion to the community of Young Global Leaders (YGL) and Global Shaper Alumni of the World Economic Forum (invited to Davos 2015 and 2019); he is a member of the Young Presidents Organization (YPO) and Millennium Leader-ML50 of the Group of Fifty (G50). He has also been recognized within the “50 most influential graduates of IESA”, “Influential Leader” of the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business-AACSB, “Social Entrepreneur of the Year” of Venezuela Sin Límites and the Schwab Foundation for social entrepreneurship and was inducted into the IESA Hall of Fame for Entrepreneurs. More recently he was invested with the rank of Major within the Venezuelan Fire Department. He has also been appointed Director of various private and social organizations.
