Bio

Award-winning journalist with more than 10 years of news writing and editing experience for print and digital platforms, as well as public relations, social media and marketing skills. Thrives in demanding environments requiring a high degree of initiative, commitment and deadline-driven productivity. Tony is a senior reporter at FundFire, a Financial Times publication, covering the wealth management space. He writes about separately managed accounts, model portfolios, model delivery, direct indexing, UMAs, fintech integrations and partnerships, ESG, diversity, equity and inclusion, alternatives strategies, compliance, and M&A deals, among other topics. Previously, he was an associate editor at AdExchanger, where he covered ad tech, including the streaming TV space, data privacy issues, programmatic platforms, and M&A, among other topics. Prior to that, he was the Ops & Tech editor at Pageant Media's Fund Intelligence, a leading daily news and data platform for the US mutual fund space. As a senior editor at the Herald Community Newspapers, he led its Long Beach Herald publication and wrote countless stories about politics, local government, business, crime, education, the environment, diversity, LGBTQ issues, and more. Most notably, Tony's investigative work broke a widespread payout scandal at City Hall beginning in 2018. By examining a stack of pay stubs, contracts, memos and other documents obtained through Freedom of Information requests and confidential sources, Tony was the first reporter to uncover payouts to politically-connected employees who had “separated” from city service but remained on the payroll, which helped spark two criminal investigations at the county and federal levels, a scathing state audit and prompted the former city manager to return a $50,000 overpayment. Anthony was also at the helm of the Herald during Hurricane Sandy and provided extensive coverage by canvassing the community, speaking to residents and business owners reeling from the storm, and interviewing elected officials such as former Gov. Andrew Cuomo and U.S. Sen. Charles Schumer. He has received numerous New York Press Association and Press Club of Long Island awards over the past several years -- including first-place for Best Community Weekly Newspaper -- and the Huffington Post described the Long Beach Herald's coverage of post-storm issues as “excellent.” In 2018 and again in 2020, Tony also received PCLI's prestigious Robert W. Greene Public Service Award for his ongoing coverage of post-Sandy issues and reporting on the payout scandal.
