I look at myself as a microbiologist by training and a self-taught bioinformatician. Although my initiation into the world of research has been through classical microbiology, a few years into my Ph.D. I began to appreciate the versatility and sheer power of computational biology in today's data heavy research. As we move into the era of artificial intelligence, biologists who are well versed in computation are at an advantage of reaping the best from both fields and also contribute significantly. I have had both wet and dry laboratory experience, and believe am therefore uniquely poised. My interests and future aims include computational investigations of biological processes, design and deploy of softwares for computational biology and database construction and curation. Additionally, I have had experience in industrial R&D in Unilever and am familiar with the tight, deadline driven research ethos present therein.
