I have a broad spectrum of experience in all of the key areas of real estate work with particular expertise in the commercial development and investment sectors with a particular focus on housebuilding and PRS/BTR. I have acted and act for landowners and developers (both in the private and public sector), funders, investors and tenants with a key emphasis on complex development arrangements and large investment projects, including conditional contracts, option arrangements, joint ventures, leasing, property finance arrangements and lending, as well as tax efficient property structures and vehicles. I have particular experience in structuring off/shore tax efficient property investment vehicles acting for both fund managers and investors. Acting for a number of Middle East investors, these often require to be structured in a sharia’h compliant manner and as a result I have developed a specialism in sharia’h compliant real estate investment and Islamic financing. I am currently working on a number of large projects in the residential investment sector both PRS and social housing, from early stage structuring through to delivery of completed units and exit. Clients in this sector include The PRS REIT plc, Sigma Capital Group plc and Gatehouse Bank plc. I also have extensive recent experience acting for developers and landowners in the wind, PV, hydro and AD sector of the renewable energy market. This is across the range of installations from small single turbine developments to large 100 Mw plus windfarms as well as commercial PV, hydro and AD/EfW projects. Having had commercial experience outwith the legal sector as director in a property development company I also know first hand the key attributes in delivering quality legal services to the property and renewables industries.
