I am passionate about the payments industry, and in particular emerging payment technologies and standards, including digital wallets, contactless mobile, and e- and m-commerce optimisations. I strongly believe that the payments industry is undergoing revolutionary change that affects everyone, from every nation, and from every walk of life. I am deeply involved in my career at understanding those changes, the impact these changes will have on business and individual lives, and how to leverage those changes for the good of business and individuals alike. Much of my professional life has been spent in Asia, where I have been witness the incredibly rapid adoption of new payment technologies writ large on diverse markets across the region, from Alipay in China to P2P across the region and key e-remittance corridors across South and South East Asia, and also to the revolution in e- and m-commerce that has gripped all of Asia and turned the region into the largest e-commerce market globally. I have a particular focus on mobile-driven payments, whether they be wallets, native checkout, mobile optimised (frictionless) payments, and contactless (Apple Pay, Google Pay et al). I have also filed 5 patents focused on payments on behalf of companies I worked for, as a result of strategic thinking with colleagues concerning the future development of payment technologies.
