Bio

Over my 35 year career, I've focused my energy on building networks and coalitions to catalyze collective action. I help promote more collaborative and strategic ways to bring about a better future, especially for a more sustainable society, a healthier world ocean and a stable climate. Since 2009, I've focused more each year on supporting youth engagement and leadership. The Ocean Project has grown from a handful of founding aquariums and NGOs in 1998 into a global network of over 2,000 organizations, including non-traditional stakeholders such as youth leaders and youth organizations, zoos, aquariums, and science museums, and other organizations in 150+ countries, with growing impact, locally, nationally and globally. Based on The Ocean Project's many years of conducting comprehensive market and communications research, we support our partner organizations with strategic communications tools, resources, connections, and inspiration to effectively engage the public, inform policymakers, and protect our blue planet. Since 2002 when The Ocean Project launched global coordination efforts for World Ocean Day, we've helped grow it into a UN-recognized event on 8 June each year with thousands of events and billions of people reached on social media. We actively promote World Ocean Day as a unique opportunity to raise the profile of the ocean each June and engage the growing global network on collaborative ocean and climate action campaigns throughout the year.
