Bio

Bobbi Lockyer is a colour-obsessed, queer feminist pink-haired Aboriginal artist, spearheading change in social spaces through art. She is a proud Ngarluma, Kariyarra, Nyulnyul and Yawuru woman, raising her four amazing boys by herself on the land that raised her. Bobbi feels a deep affinity for country and community and uses her art, fashion and photography as a platform to raise awareness of social justice issues, including Indigenous rights and women's rights. Bobbi believes that creativity and community go hand in hand and one would not exist without the other, so she loves being able to use her art as a force for good in the world. In 2021 she was named NAIDOC Artist of the Year, became a board her member for Regional Arts WA and entered her second year as a creator for Nikon. Bobbi is also active on social media, sharing her real life as an artist and solo mother as well as sharing helpful tips and tricks in photography and art. She also runs the social media accounts for Blak Lens - a collective for Aboriginal photographers across Australia. Bobbi loves using her social media to connect with her audience as she tries to help break down the stigmas associated with birth trauma and domestic violence as well as tackling the topics of racism in Australia and being passionate about Indigenous representation in mainstream media. Bobbi Lockyer is proud to have partnered with The Body Shop and Amnesty International to help the Raise the Age campaign. She has also collaborated with Constance Hall raising thousands of dollars for the Sisters Inside Free Her campaign. In 2022 Bobbi launched her boutique fashion label Gantharri at Australian Fashion Week and will have her designs showcased at Darwin’s fashion festival Country to Couture, and has recently been invited to showcase her label at New York Fashion Week. Gantharri (pronounced Gun-thar-dee) and it means both ''Queen Bee'' and “Grandmother'' in Ngarluma language, Gantharri is a labour of love, combining her passion for design with her flair for fashion and photography and is a tribute to her grandmother, the original Queen Bee. Bobbi’s services include commercial and event photography in Port Hedland, as well as painting, graphic design and illustration all over Australia. Bobbi often travels across the country delivering art and photography workshops and works closely with global brands delivering content. Working across a range of digital and traditional media, Bobbi connects creatively with her client to find the right tools to develop her clients brand aesthetic and tell their story.
