Bio

I have been involved in leading roles in clinical research and development in the biotechnology/pharmaceutical industry for the past 15 years. Research areas include: hematology, thrombosis, sickle cell disease, gene therapy, pulmonary hypertension, critical care, and cardiology. Prior to moving to industry, I was in academic medicine as a pediatric critical care physician for 25 years including positions at Massachusetts General Hospital/Harvard Medical School, University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry, and Oregon Health & Sciences University. I received 37 scientific research grant awards and have authored over 250 peer-reviewed manuscripts, abstracts, reviews, books and editorials. I have served on the editorial board of many leading medical and scientific publications and on advisory boards for multiple pharmaceutical companies including Baxter Healthcare, Eli Lilly, Xoma, and Wyeth-Ayerst. I also hold numerous patents.
