As a strategic leader I develop, plan and implement precision medicine projects and programs for UCSF. At University of California San Francisco (UCSF), I have a dedicated focus on precision medicine and genomics efforts, research strategy and varied science policy efforts. I manage UCSF’s presence at the Precision Medicine World Conference, from strategic development, track and session planning, speaker preparation, logistics, communications and helping foster collaboration. In a rapidly evolving field it is imperative to be efficient, agile and well-organized. The primary aim of the UCSF precision medicine effort is to harness and analyze the vast amounts of data from research, to better understand diseases and health disparities while developing and delivering more precise diagnostics, therapeutics, policies and prevention measures. Much of my effort is dedicated to helping create a long-term vision and strategy, organizing and managing our multiple work groups, identify driving projects and connecting potential collaborators. I am deeply passionate about health equity across the spectrum of healthcare, ensuring diverse communities and voices are heard. Prior to my current position at UCSF, I worked at UCSF's Clinical Translational Science Institute (CTSI) where I was a Research Navigator and Policy Analyst. In this position I had the pleasure of aiding faculty in their search for resources and information. Additionally, a portion of my effort was with UC BRAID, a consortium of the 5 UC Biomedical campuses. I began my career as a lab manager for multiple Pediatric Oncology researchers at UCSF. As the lab manager I maintained medical laboratory equipment performance by establishing quality standards, developed operations, quality, and troubleshooting procedures, ensured staff compliance, certified instrument performance, arranged equipment replacement, service, and repair. Additionally, I managed staff and volunteers of 15 that consisted of graduate students, volunteers, faculty, specialists and technicians. I am deeply passionate about scientific/medical research and have leveraged my strengths in program and project management to aid in accelerating initiatives I am involved in. It is a distinct pleasure to work with the UCSF and national scientific community; this work and these people continue to fuel my passion for excellence and innovation. Lastly, I am a rare disease patient, advocate, connector, educator. This is my primary profession, my primary passion is helping reduce the diagnostic odyssey and suffering.
