Creating a positive impact in people’s lives at a large scale has always been a deep aspiration for me. This comes with the following mind–set: (1) I challenge reality as it is, and want to transform it; (2) I think big and share my learnings; (3) I like to promote collective endeavors that bring people together - locally and globally; (4) I recognize that real change cannot be made in isolation but can only be derived through a concerted effort by all players and (5) I have a passion for service. This is what drives me! Passionate about sustainable finance and investments in Africa, I am spearheading the Group's participation in the UN-led Net Zero Insurance Alliance (NZIA) as the first African insurer. I am also leading our membership to Glasgow Financial Alliance for Net Zero (GFANZ) & the UNEP FI Principles of Sustainable Insurance (PSI). I am a member of the Partnership for Carbon Accounting Financials (PCAF) and previously a member of the TCFD Insurer pilot group. I am an advisory partner to the Nairobi Declaration on Sustainable Insurance - a UN-led initiative which was launched at the 4th Africa Market event that ICEA LION hosted in April 2021. I am a Board member at the Institute of Risk Management (IRM) UK's Global Board where I also Chair the Investments Committee. I also sit on the Board of Safaricom Money Transfer Services Ltd as well as World Vision Kenya where I chair the Audit and Risk Committee. I am the Founding Chair of the IRM East Africa Regional Group (a member body of the IRM UK) . I am a past member of Anti-Money Laundering and Counter Financing of Terrorism (AML/CFT) Round Table organized by the US Department of Justice (DoJ) as well as a member of the National Risk Assessment Task Force on AML/CFT. I am a speaker at various local and international conferences on risks and opportunities in Africa. Has been recognized as one of the Top40Under40 Women in Kenya, the “Corporate Risk Manager of the Year 2017 and 2018” as well as ''Top 50 Women in Insurance in Africa'' at the African Insurance Organization (AIO) 2022 awards, finalist at Thompson Reuters Innovation Award,among others. You will occasionally find me planning weddings ( yes weddings), working on floral arrangements, hosting a cooking club, binge watching my favorite Netflix series or taking a swing at the golf-course ( I am still learning the game :-) ). Wondering where I get time for this? I have over years learnt to fully integrate my life, work and play. A wife and mother of three, my goal is to make a positive contribution to investment and development in Africa.
