Elena Smith, PhD, is Analytical CMC leader at Sanofi Vaccines and leads the definition and implementation of analytical strategy for vaccines in mRNA platform. Dr Smith joined Sanofi (Protein Sciences) in 2013 and led Quality Control for the commercialization of the new product, world's first recombinant Influenza vaccine Flublok, with several seasons of product scale-up on the market. In her following role in the Sanofi as Quality Analytical Expert, Elena provided her expertise by leading technical CMC discussions with Regulatory authorities and being site Quality lead for product launches of Flublok Quadrivalent/Supemtek in several countries as well as being part of CMC team for the bringing to the market new COVID 19 vaccine booster - VidPrevtin. Dr. Smith obtained her Ph.D. in Molecular Biology on HIV antivirals following completion of postdoctoral training on Molecular Pharmacology. Dr. Smith focuses her industrial operations interests on tech transfer, manufacturing process, analytical strategy for new products, standards, and microbiological control of manufacturing sites. Dr Smith is an invited speaker at the international conferences. Dr Smith co-leads the working group for early availability of reagents at WHO Pandemic Influenza Vaccine Response Operation Plan. La Dre Smith a rejoint Sanofi (Protein Sciences) en 2013 et a dirigé le contrôle qualité pour la commercialisation du nouveau produit, le premier vaccin antigrippal recombinant au monde, avec plusieurs saisons de mise à l’échelle du produit sur le marché. Après cela, Elena a apporté son expertise qualité aux lancement de produit Flublok Quadrivalent/Supemtek dans le monde entier et faire partie de l’équipe CMC pour d’un nouveau rappel de vaccin COVID 19 – VidPrevtin en tant Expert analytique Qualité chez Sanofi. La Dre Smith a obtenu son doctorate en Biologie Moléculaire sur les antiviraux et a terminé sa formation postdoctorale sur les molecular pharmacologie. Le Dr Smith concentre ses intérêts sur la stratégie qualité pour les nouveaux produits, les normes, et les processus de fabrication et le contrôle microbiologique des usines. Dr Smith est conférencier invité aux conférences internationales. Dr Smith co-responsible du groupe pour la disponibilité précoce des réactifs au plan opérationnel de l’OMS pour la riposte au vaccin contre la grippe pandémique.
