Bio

One thing I have learned is that engagement leads to success. When I walked in to my first classroom I knew one thing: that each student in that space had a different reason for being there and very few of those reasons were because they really, really wanted to learn about history. So I started with some questions through which I managed to get bored, sleep-deprived, first year students to laugh and and to connect. And that led to a great discussion about history, which led to a great term. So began my interest in engagement. And what I learned is this: When people are engaged they learn, they find solutions and they succeed. Keeping people engaged draws them towards success. And in my many years of teaching and training, guiding and supporting, instructing and facilitating, creating, collaborating and poking people’s curiosity, I have always loved that moment when their eyes glimmer. I love this moment because I know that now the knowledge is theirs and that their capacity for life has just increased. I saw it in teaching history, English, writing, media studies and public speaking. I loved watching students glow after doing their first presentation in front of a group in a second language. I saw it in leading yoga classes: How a small adjustment could allow someone to touch their toes for the first time, leading to a gigantic smile and an even bigger sense of possibility. Now I get to see my clients’ excitement when they realize how their new technology can solve their problems and expand their business initiatives and they get to shine in front of their boss. It’s pretty amazing. So, if you’re interested, let’s connect. I’d love to hear what’s engaging you right now.
