Experienced Chief Risk Officer, and credit, market & enterprise risk specialist; Passionate about environmental /climate issues and an opinion maker on green finance/ sustainablility. Active sponsor of Innovation, Fintechs & new technologies. Thought leading in embedding non-financial risk (NFR) frameworks. As the CRO for HSBC Singapore, I am currently responsible for managing all type of risks across our operations, covering all businesses and legal entities. I also have functional responsibility for HSBC Risk teams in Japan, Korea and Philippines. I have over 25 years of experience in Risk & Compliance areas within the financial services sector, large part of which is with HSBC doing a variety of country and regional roles across five geographies. Past roles include CRO HSBC Australia, Head of Wholesale Credit Risk for Asia Pacific & CRO HSBC Mauritius. Prior experience with Standard & Poors’ in India. I am seen as a trusted advisor to the CEO and leadership team to facilitate developing business strategies and collaborate on business opportunities to meet customer needs, whilst navigating evolving risk areas & enabling transformation. I have strong people leadership and stakeholder management skills, with a proven track record of building high performing teams and developing talents. I am very passionate about sustainability issues, and work very closely with the industry to drive opinions. I am the chair of the: - Taskforce formed by MAS to co-draft the regulatory guidelines for banks ie Environmental Risk Management (ERM) - Risk management work-stream under Green Finance Industry Taskforce(GFIT) that supports capacity building & publish Industry Handbook and Environmental Risk Questionnaire (ERQ). - Association of Banks in Singapore (ABS) committee to come out with the “Guidelines for Responsible Financing”. - Member of the Advisory panel to MAS Project Nova and Project Green Print on ESG data. I am very closely involved in innovation, new technologies and Fintech ecosystem internally with HSBC & in Singapore. Key roles include: - Demo day judge for the Global Hackcelerator (GH) at the Singapore Fintech Festival, - Selection panel to decide the winners for the MAS & ABS Fintech awards announced at SFF, - Advisor & mentor to many Fintechs, including two of the eventual winners of the GH, and - Steer-co member for Singapore KYC Utility project on digital identities.
