In late 1993 Wellfleet acquired Synoptics, a leading hub manufacturer and formed Bay Networks. After I left in 1996, Bay was acquired by Nortel. 1989-1992 Senior Network Consultant, Ericsson. 1986-1989 Senior Network Consultant, Proteon. Proteon was a pioneer in IP router design, and also built a range of other technologies. These include the first commercial implementations of OSPF, SNMP, token ring (predating IBM), the first fibre-optic token ring, the first high speed (80Mbps) token ring, and the first intelligent hubs. Proteon is a classic MBA case study on why the best technology doesn't always translate to commercial success.
