I work as a Public Policy Manager at Twitter’s EMEA HQ in Dublin. As part of my role, I drive Twitter’s Public Policy efforts in Ireland and the Nordic markets and work across the EMEA region as a whole. The Public Policy team act as Twitter’s ambassadors to government policymakers, regulators, and civil society groups on public policy issues. The public policy team serves as the @TwitterGov team to showcase the use of Twitter for civic purposes, and the @TwitterForGood team providing guidance, resources, and support for Twitter’s corporate philanthropy mission. I have a First Class Honours Masters Degree in Politics from the University of Limerick. My thesis was titled “Political Echo Chambers in Irish Social Media: A Network Analysis of the #CitizensAssembly Twitter Debate on the 8th Amendment.” I manage Twitter’s partnership with UNESCO on Media and Information Literacy, driving the development and launch of the ‘Twitter for Teaching and Learning guide last year. I also developed the ‘Campaigning on Twitter’ handbook for civil society, public service, and politics. During my Masters, I had the privilege of visiting Brussels on an academic trip. The purpose of this trip was to meet European experts and representatives from the EU agencies. Our seminars ranged from the European Union’s response to International Terrorism to Brexit, Ireland and the Future of the EMU. I was highly involved in student politics, clubs, and societies during my undergraduate degree. In 2013 I ran for SU president, finishing in second place, ahead of the incumbent. The same year, I was awarded the Best Individual in a Society for my involvement with the International Society. I represented the University of Limerick at the Board of Irish College Societies Awards. I also received the Gold President’s Volunteer Award.
