Bio

I am a physician-scientist and innovator experienced in all aspects of translational research. I currently direct and lead a research team focused on developing novel treatments for clinical problems that don't have preexisting great solutions, in the field of dermatology and beyond. I am a board certified and practicing dermatologist with over 10 years of clinical experience. I am the co-founder and Director of the ''Magic Wand Initiative'' and the Virtual Magic Wand programs in US and Europe (www.MagicWandInitiative.org) aimed at empowering clinical faculty to engage in problem-based translational and innovative research to solve the problems faced in their own practice. I am an inventor and co-inventor on numerous patents. My innovative research work has led to creation of several start up companies, two of which I am the cofounder. I have co-authored numerous peer-reviewed original publications. I have lectured at national and international level and have developed a reputation as an expert and leader in dermatology and biomedical innovation. I serve as a consultant and on the Scientific Advisory Board of several established and startup companies in the fields of dermatology, immunology, anesthesiology, ENT and cancer biology. As a humanitarian, I have pioneered and established sustainable, medical laser clinics in Armenia for effective treatments of scars and vascular anomalies. My team has taken several lasers to Armenia and has trained Armenian physicians on the use of laser technology to treat life altering skin diseases. I recently founded and serves as the President of a nonprofit organization called “Face of Angel” (www.faceofangel.org) to continue the mission of this humanitarian work.
