Lindsey Vance attended The University of Maryland attaining dual bachelor degrees in Fine Art and Psychology. Vance received her Masters in Art Therapy from The George Washington University. She is a Board Certified- Registered Art Therapist (ATR-BC) and a Licensed Professional Counselor. Vance has worked in an array of community mental health settings as a Mental Health Clinician and Art Therapist, including: medical, jail diversion, chronically homeless, school-based settings and with at-risk youth. Vance served as Program Director and Art Therapist for Project Create in Washington, D.C. where she developed and implemented therapeutic arts programming for under resourced children, youth, and families experiencing housing insecurity. Vance is currently the Arts Innovation Manager at D.C. Public Schools. She transitioned from the role of Visual Arts Manager, where she oversees and develops holistic and trauma responsive curriculum, leads professional development, and specifically, a cohort of arts teachers in a fellowship to Cultivate Compassionate Classrooms. In this new role she leans into digital technology, therapeutic arts, and partner collaboration to maximize and leverage the role arts in preparing students for success. Vance also is an active member of the Multicultural Committee of The American Art Therapy Association and leads the multicultural exchange annually at the national conference. She also serves on the board of directors for The Art Therapy Credentials Board and Director of DEI for the SHA of Breakthrough Montessori. Concurrently, she provides Art Therapy and Counseling to families through The Wendt Center for Loss and Healing and teaches as an adjunct professor for Bowie State University and The George Washington University teaching expressive therapy and art therapy coursework. Additionally, Vance is an entrepreneur and fine artist. She creates in various mediums, including, painting, photography and printmaking and currates exhibitions globally. She developed an international healing arts retreat and mentors emerging artists and future clinicians. Creativity, equity, and healing are the core drivers that influence her myriad of experiences.
