I am passionate about how scientific data generated in the laboratory translates to the clinic and increases the probability of success of new medicines. To me this means creating and applying human-relevant models to the pursuit of drug discovery and development. By providing scientific leadership and establishing strong collaborative partnerships with academia, pharma, industry and regulatory agencies, I aim to accelerate the adoption and application of complex in vitro cellular models. After successfully establishing the Microphysiological Systems Centre of Excellence within AstraZeneca and gaining the reputation as an industrial adoption pioneer, I created Veroli Consulting to provide expert scientific and strategic advice on Organ-Chips and Organoids to a range of clients within and beyond the pharmaceutical industry. In my current role at Emulate, I lead the internal R&D organisation who are the masters of new organ models and their application as well as our fee-for-service organisation where we serve our customers with standard and bespoke project requests. During my 20 years’ in the pharmaceutical industry, I became an adept drug hunter working across the safety and efficacy domains of drug discovery and early clinical development.
