Lorraine has 20 years of marine management experience, working for both government and industry throughout her career. Key areas of expertise are: • Cable permitting; • Marine regulations; • Marine surveys; • Licensing noise impacts to marine mammals; • GIS expert; • Oil spill sensitivity mapping; • Government policy development (all marine sectors); • Benthic ecology, fish ecology and commercial fisheries EIA chapters for renewables and oil & gas, including decommissioning; • Mapping suitable areas for marine renewables, cables and aquaculture; • Preparation and implementation of a marine spatial plan; • Public consultation and event planning; • Cumulative impact risk assessments; • Strategic Environmental Assessment; • Data Management (compliance with EU INSPIRE); • Biotope mapping of seabed and survey techniques; • European licensing and planning system. Lorraine has considerable experience across a range of marine environmental, socioeconomic and policy issues. She is widely regarded as an expert in the field of Marine Spatial Planning, having wrote one of the worlds first plans (Shetland islands), a statutory instrument in the Scottish planning regime. Lorraine is an EIA practitioner, having specialist commercial fishing and fish ecology experience for offshore wind and tidal farms, pipelines and decommissioning oil platforms. She has helped represent the fishing industry, renewables, cables, aquaculture, oil and gas, and recreational users in relation to marine planning and development use. Pre-application consultation, with the result of a more efficient site selection process (for whatever industry) has always been at the core of Lorraine's work.
