Matt Walter is Vice President of Human Resources for Global Operations and Supply Chain at Medtronic. He is responsible for leading the development and execution of HR strategies that help enable all aspects of the company’s operations including Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Supply Management, Operational Excellence and Transformation, Enterprise Risk and Facilities, and Operations Quality. Matt and his team of HR professionals support the 45,000 employees of the global operations workforce. Previous to his current role, Matt was the VP of Human Resources for Diabetes, and prior to that, the VP of Human Resources for Coronary and Structural Heart. Matt joined Medtronic as the VP of Global Talent Management, Organizational Effectiveness and Executive Development, where his key responsibilities included designing, developing, and executing enterprise talent services and solutions Prior to joining Medtronic 2014, Matt served as Senior Director, Talent Management at Best Buy where he drove the global talent management agenda and philosophy. At Best Buy, Matt had Enterprise responsibility for talent & succession planning, performance management, human capital analytics & solutions, talent assessment, and employee engagement. Before joining Best Buy in 2012, Matt was SVP, Leadership and Talent Management for the Global Baking & Markets business at Bank of America/Merrill Lynch. In his role, Matt was the senior client manager for Global Equities, International Wealth Management, Global Research, FICC, and COO businesses. During his career at Bank of America, Matt also served as Leadership Development leader for various Enterprise functions including talent planning, analytics, executive assessment and development, and performance management. Before joining Bank of America in 2005, Matt was a Sr. Consultant/Testifying Expert at Landy LSG, in New York, NY. In that capacity he conducted original research and reviewed existing case law for offering independent and objective testimony for related HR litigation support. Matt graduated from Saint Francis University where he received a B.S. in Psychology. He also earned a Ph.D. in I/O Psychology from Colorado State University.
