Joined SMD in 1995 after completing an engineering doctorate at Bath University. Early career at SMD involved the design of subsea vehicles for the Oil & Gas markets. During late 1990s and early 2000s developed vehicles for the installation and burial of submarine telecommunication cables, including the award winning Multi-Depth Cable Plough and introduction of jetting onto ploughs that become and still is the industry standard for cable protection. Returned to SMD in 2001 to develop its Work Class ROV products, firstly in Cable Maintenance ROVs and latterly in Work Class ROVs. Managed delivery of multiple Work Class ROV projects to establish its place as one of the leading independent supplier of Work Class ROVs in the market and account manager for key customer Subsea 7 for supply of their construction & IRM WROVs. For the last decade, led SMD’s trenching business and the expansion into Offshore Wind. Responsible for the expansion of the business to target HVDC and HVAC power cables for offshore wind and interconnector applications and pivoting the business towards Wind. P&L responsibility for all equipment product lines at SMD, covering O&G, Telecoms, Power, Mining, Scientific, Salvage and Survey markets.
