Bio

Peter Zandstra is a highly accomplished and well-recognized engineer and academic with a focus on stem cell bioengineering and regenerative medicine. He has a B.Eng. degree from McGill University in Chemical Engineering, a Ph.D. from the University of British Columbia in Chemical Engineering and Biotechnology, and has conducted post-doctoral research in bioengineering at MIT. He is the Founding Director of the School of Biomedical Engineering and was the Director of the Michael Smith Laboratories at the University of British Columbia. Zandstra has also been involved in founding several biotechnology companies, including ExCellThera and Notch Therapeutics. He has received numerous awards and honors, including being a fellow of the Royal Society of Canada and being appointed to the Order of Canada in 2021.
