Bio

I am excited each day by the promise of cell therapy and regenerative medicine. I have extensive experience in Nonclinical development, leading a research team and supporting multidisciplinary programs. My background is in the field of spinal cord injury, and in my time at Athersys I have advanced the MultiStem platform for treatment of acute SCI from early in vitro work to clinical readiness. In parallel, I have worked with the Athersys Regenerative Medicine team to advance MultiStem in the areas of ischemic stroke, multiple sclerosis, traumatic brain injury, and acute respiratory distress syndrome, among other indications. I have experience managing people and projects, authoring Nonclinical and CMC documents for regulatory submissions, developing and validating cell-based assays, overseeing external collaborations, interfacing with CROs/CMOs and consultants to leverage outside expertise, obtaining substantial grant funding, establishing in vivo animal models and assessing clinical sample data.
