I AM... Sofie. A curious and enthusiastic person with a positive mindset who likes to connect with people, which has led me to embrace many challenges to reach my goals. My appetite for life sciences and health(care) grew from collaboration with a lawyer already working in this field in 2009 and I have only become more enthusiastic ever since. Why? The complexity and the rapid developments create an ever-changing landscape that I enjoy exploring and learning about. It’s like a never-ending story, in a good way. In the past decade I have gained broad experience in administrative law, both in business and in my consultancy work for several public entities. My activities comprised advice and litigation in the fields of economic administrative law, social security law, environmental law enforcement, access to government information, governmental liability, construction law, public procurement law, contract law and public order issues. Since 2012 I am specializing myself in legal and regulatory aspects of clinical trials, medical technology, medicinal products and food. I assisted clients in the pharmaceutical, medical technology and food industry with legal advice and sharing knowledge through lectures and publications. In the past years I worked at the Dutch Data Protection Authority, focussing on the healthcare sector, international data transfers and enforcement of the GDPR. Today I work at the Dutch Healthcare Inspectorate where my legal work covers many aspects of health and data law. I truly enjoy connecting with people and being able to inspire them to take action. My mission as a diversity and inclusion advocate is to raise awareness about existing inequity in opportunities and help organizations create more diversity, equity, and inclusion for all to increase safe and supportive environments and to reduce the amount of people that feel lonely, unsupported and unsafe. ...LOOKING FORWARD TO MEETING YOU.
