I believe that making good decisions comes from gathering good information and combining my experience as a medical doctor, Chief Data Officer, Clinical Informatics Director, Founding Fellow of the Faculty of Clinical Informatics (FFCI), reviewer for the NHS Digital Academy and a Certified Information Systems Security Professional - means that I deliver in a competent, efficient and safe manner. With 20+ years’ experience and a medical background in Emergency Medicine (A&E), I have consciously developed a unique combination of medical and data specific technology skills. Combined with extensive experience in clinical, managerial and leadership roles across the Public and Private/Independent Sectors, I have a unique understanding of the healthcare economy and its national landscape. This has enabled me to pioneer significant digital transformations within clinical informatics; including successfully undertaking a role as Executive Director at PHIN and leading the creation of the first unified view of the UK health economy crossing public and private hospital care. This is the foundation for safe, measurable patient care. I secured ISO27001 and NHS IGTK accreditations, and personally attained formal certification in cybersecurity - CISSP. I bring trusted and respected digital health expertise and provide advisory services and guidance for the integration of clinical technology, clinical transformation services, data analysis, business intelligence and patient safety. I am experienced in delivering strategic direction, gaining strong stakeholder engagement and leading healthcare analytics, clinical benchmarking, IT services, risk management, governance and compliance.
