The indie community—getting to talk to like-minded folks is always why I go to GDC. The weather was great too! Good job.

"Amazing networking opportunity!"

I liked that it was clearer which talk I should attend at any given time slot. The music in the park was really nice. The badge ribbons were a lot of fun to see and wear. It was a great week of meeting new people and reconnecting with former coworkers and acquaintances. Also, so many badge ribbons!

Yeah, it was a conference. I had a lot of good time meeting new people, reconnecting with former co-workers or acquaintances. I got a lot of ribbons for my badge. Got to listen to music in the gardens. It was very nice. yeah, just a fun time overall. Very good week. a lot of good talks I went to. I went to see all my coworkers talks, gave a talk myself. Just very, very good week overall.

I thought that G DC was a really fun event. I had a great time. It was my first time attending and, um, it was way more chilled out than I thought it was going to be way more relaxed. I had a really good time meeting people, um, interviewing, uh, interviewing people to see what they're working on. doing my talk was a lot of fun. it, it just had a really good vibe in general. I, I do feel like there was some, um, aspects could be improved a few times. Felt a little bit, a little bit odd and in fact, there's no bag check was a little bit odd as well. but otherwise I thought I had a great time at G DC and, um, I would definitely go to G DC 2024 especially if I could speak again.

Overall, a great conference!

What did you like best about the event?

I liked the people and the surrounding events. There were plenty of opportunities to meet others, along with lots of food, drinks, and a fun atmosphere.

What could the organizers do to improve the event?

The biggest issue for me was the entry price. Bringing back the expo pass would be appreciated. The expo hall also felt quite small and had an unusual layout. Yerba Buena had some good elements, such as the concerts and picnic tables, but the food stands would be better placed along the edges of the park rather than in the middle. Additionally, closing off that entire section between 11:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. was not ideal. In fact, I would suggest reconsidering the food stands altogether and bringing back the previous Yerba Buena setup, which always felt more open, cozy, and aligned with the spirit of the game development community. It seemed to lose some of its charm this year. Therefore, overall, the conference was nice, but some of the changes felt somewhat tone-deaf and overly corporate.

Amazing networking opportunity!

What did you like best about the event?

What could the organizers do to improve the event?

1. The food inside Moscone is way too expensive for the quality, especially when vendors in the gardens offer better options for less. 2. The opening night party was too far from the conference venue, too cold, and the split between speakers and the general audience felt awkward.

What could the organizers do to improve the event?

The park's gate optics were terrible. I did enjoy having access to food vendors, but it really felt like 70% of the park was closed off. I also really didn’t like the music in the park. It made it harder to talk, and it’s mostly just game music we’re all kind of sick of. Maybe if the music is removed, there’s a better way to place the food vendors so they’re less in the middle of everything. Also, the show floor is terrible. It felt like soul-sucking companies and AI shills that don’t care about gaming at all. But I understand you have a business to run. There’s just very little draw to the show floor for most folks. Unfortunately, I had to be there because we had a panel on the show floor, which was an unideal location due to the noise, with many attendees having to stand. Finally, the location of GDC has never been great. Downtown San Francisco is pretty rough and very prohibitive for folks outside the USA, especially now with TSA and ICE the way they are.

I wish the Austin Wintory concert were during the day, like last year. An earlier time would make it easier for more people to attend. Also, there were not enough seats available.
