It comes to see that an edifice which produces beggars needs restructuring.” - MLK, Beyond Vietnam, 1967 I was raised by a single mom who worked nonstop to make ends meet. Later on in life, my dad struggled to earn a livable wage in retail, despite being a hard worker. My parents, however, were not unique. This is a rapidly growing nationwide problem. The nature of work had changed, and the technological infrastructure to support workers who earn in non-standard ways remained the same. I co-founded Steady to help others like them. Steady’s consumer app helps workers increase their income by thousands per year on average. To drive this increase, we help our Members access real-time job data to help find higher-paying local work, better understand and track their incomes, curation of inclusive financial services that improve their financial health, guidance on facing financial shock, government-level policy reform advocacy, and more. We launched SteadyIQ to serve workers indirectly as the leading source of data-based insights into the non-standard workforce. We partner with employers, governments, and financial institutions to streamline benefits administration, quantify earnings, reduce fraud, improve outcomes, and increase equity. Steady has been featured on MSNBC, CNBC, Yahoo! Finance, and Cheddar. And it’s been published in the Harvard Business Review, MIT Sloan Management Review, Barron's, The Daily Beast, Forbes, Newsweek, Nasdaq, and Glassdoor among others. I have also had the opportunity to serve as a 4X return guest lecturer on financial inclusion at the Stanford Graduate School of Business, as a return speaker at SXSW, ASU+GSV Summit, TechCrunch, Financial Health Network (CFSI) Emerge, Money20/20, Collision, Columbia Business School, Social Innovation Summit, Quarantine Summit, LendIt, Wharton, Singapore Fintech Festival, Techbridge, Fintech South, Experian Vision and many other tech and financial services conferences.
