I grew up loving science of all kinds, but not knowing how I could really make a successful career as a scientist. I earned an undergraduate degree in Business Information Systems because I had a passion for computers and I enjoy the effort to succeed in the constantly changing markets. While working on my MBA, I decided to pursue a second Master’s degree and Data Science piqued my curiosity. Pursuing an MSIS with an emphasis in Data Science turned out to be one of the greatest decisions of my life. I rediscovered my love for science. I learned that by understanding math I could begin to speak the universal language of science. And best of all I learned that I could do all of this in the fast-paced business environment I had grown to love, and all from a group of world-class professors at the University of Texas at Arlington. Now I am a Machine Learning Engineer with a focus on creating Machine Learning solutions with both mathematical rigor and a focus on enterprise viability. My experience in the business world enables me to understand the value of solutions that do not create massive tech debt, or the importance of getting buy-in from business partners by telling the story well and delivering solutions the business can use. You cannot ask for more than to truly love what you do, and to be able to pass that knowledge and passion on through leadership and mentoring.
