Dr. Alan Young is a physician innovator and strategist with diverse clinical, corporate and entrepreneurial accomplishments. He joined McKinsey & Company as a Physician Expert in the Clinical and Risk Excellence practice. He studied Microbiology, Immunology and Molecular Genetics at UCLA to obtain his B.Sc. After completing a dual MD/MBA degree program at USC's Keck School of Medicine & Marshall School of Business, he obtained his medical license during his Orthopedic Surgery residency. International health experience includes clinical elective program at the National Taiwan University School of Medicine in Orthopedics as well as two volunteer medical missions trips to Cambodia and Haiti. He currently practices medicine in the greater Los Angeles area. Combining his passion for business & medicine, he served as a national healthcare subject matter expert consultant with Deloitte Consulting while providing surgical physician services at Southern California Kaiser Permanente. At USC Care Medical Group he was the Director of Operations Strategy & Special Projects, leading quality improvement initiatives and Cerner EHR optimization efforts to improve patient and physician engagement. Served as Regional Director of Client Relations with Accenture specializing in Epic EHR projects, Client Service Leader for Slalom Consulting and Chief Medical Officer at GYANT and Safe Health Systems. Expertise includes digital health, physician change management & training, COVID-19 testing, Epic & Cerner EHR implementations, clinical documentation improvement, enhanced recovery after surgery (ERAS) programs, virtual care delivery, value-based care (VBC), Medicaid programs, supply chain optimization, enterprise transformation, private-equity due diligence, patient/consumer experience, quality improvement efforts, Artificial Intelligence (AI) and clinical decision support. Clinical experience spans across Orthopedic/General Surgery, Emergency Medicine, Urgent Care, outpatient ambulatory clinics, specialty pediatric hospitals, HMO and VA hospitals. Supported healthcare innovation and startups as a KidsX Accelerator program coach, Founder Institute mentor and startup advisor. He also served as the So Cal HIMSS CMIO Committee Chair, HIMSS National Physician Committee member, SoPE LA Chapter Leader, AIMed Ambassador and a ScaleHealth Steering Committee Founding member.
