An innovation and disruption specialist and futurist, helping established companies to see where the threats lie, and how they can play in the same field and with the same tools as the disrupters. I have spoken before a wide range of audiences on the Horizon 1 to Horizon 3 innovation and disruption journey, and how to navigate the bridge between. I have spent considerable time in the insurance industry, specialising in identifying disruptors - and either leading investments into companies doing the disrupting, or helping incumbents to do it themselves. I firmly believe the next deacde to 2030 will expose the insurance industry to the greatest upheaval its seen since the establishment of LLoyd's. As the lead developer of the BitPOS merchant services and ATM platform, I created a digital currencies settlement engine with a world renowned reputation as secure, stable and safe - and have co-created one of the few Blockchain companies where every line of core code has been created in-house, and created one of the few digital currency operating platforms that never experienced a loss due to hacking or theft. As an established Open Source developer, I have developed for some of the largest open projects around - such as the Enlightenment project, where I focused on designing a file manager, and the file system virtualisation and metadata system, and Homebridge - where I've created several plugins that form the ecosystem of the largest Apple Homekit IoT provider. A Systems/Software architect with more than two decades of experience in the Internet Provision/Assure industry, and software development in Java (J2EE/SQL/Hibernate) and Unix (C/C++/Perl) - with a particular focus on database design, development, and optimisation. I have over 15 years experience in the telecommunications industry at all levels - from network design and deployment to management software architecture in the OSS/BSS fields in Eastern Europe, North America, APAC and the Middle East. As a capable Cisco network architect, I have experience in the design and deployment of Cisco infrastructure covering security (PIX/ASA), load balancing (CSS/ACE), internet service provisioning/assurance (LNS), routing and switching (Catalyst 2/3 series, 1/2/3 series routers), voice, and WiFi. Technology Specialties: Rapid concept prototyping in NodeJS/TypeScript, J2EE enterprise development for OSS/BSS, Blockchain - including development of core Bitcoin libraries. C/C++ development under Unix, Socket/IO and network development, filesystem virtualisation, database optimisation (Oracle/PostgreSQL).
