Born in the year the computer monitor was unveiled to the world, ethernet was created and most of the design work of TCP was done it’s no coincidence I ended up here on this career path. I was lucky to end up in the sparse R&D engineering jobs in Belgium and gain experience in all stages of the development cycle: speccing, developing, testing and deploying. After being battle tested I’m not scared of any complex and distributed system. When I design solutions I want them to be understandable, consistent, connected and observable. But this doesn’t happen without a good team. You not only need experienced people around you, having fresh blood is necessary for survival in this fast paced world. I like to help guide the community to the good side of the force though organising meetups and being part of the steering of Devoxx and the Beam Summit. As well as growing the force through contributing to open source projects.
