Angel is the co-founder and CEO of tech startup The Equity Brain Trust (TEBT), where she created a patent-pending methodology for measuring diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) in companies and government agencies. TEBT packaged this methodology into a software platform that allows companies to measure and improve racial equity, facilitate financial returns on DEI investments, mitigate risk, and communicate the value and impact of their DEI efforts to all their stakeholders. Prior to co-founding TEBT, Angel worked as an applied researcher and developed strategies to achieve equitable economic outcomes for people disadvantaged in our economy. Throughout her career she’s built a reputation for being a fiercely committed, skilled and effective designer, leader, and manager of systems-level change efforts that scale impact. Angel counts her personal life experience and her early work as a community organizer as key to her ability to design solutions that reflect the needs and realities of disadvantaged people. At the same time, her work with government and corporate leaders across multiple industries has given her the ability to find the interest convergence between those people and socially conscious companies that need to prioritize people and profits. She has led community and business-driven systems change efforts in Philadelphia and Baltimore; developed policy at the national, state, and local levels; developed and managed human capital development programs and has evaluated workforce, economic development, and financial empowerment programs across the country. Most recently, Angel served as the Assistant Director for Strategic Initiatives with the Mayor’s Office of Employment Development in Baltimore where she led the city’s effort to improve citywide workforce outcomes by balancing the needs of Baltimore’s people and business communities and managed the city’s employer-led Workforce Development Board. Angel is also an avid reader, design enthusiast and data nerd. When she’s not changing the world, she enjoys sleeping in on Saturdays, red wine, and park-hopping with her family.
