Principal investigator of the Health and Early Life Microbiota (HELMi) birth cohort (https://helmitutkimus.com/helmi-in-english/, https://bmjopen.bmj.com/content/9/6/e028500). Multidisciplinary training in biosciences. Several years research experience in molecular microbiology and microbial ecology. Current research interests in the composition & activity of the intestinal microbiota in health and disease with links to nutrition and biomedicine. Focused record of publishing in peer reviewed scientific journals. Co-organizer of the yearly Finnish Gut Day seminar since 2007.
