Anthony serves as President of thredUP, where he is responsible for the profitable growth of the thredUP marketplace. thredUP is a pioneer in powering the $36bn apparel resale market. Before thredUP, Anthony spent seven years on the leadership team of Sir Richard Branson’s Virgin Group, leading its investment program and product innovation teams in North America. As Managing Partner, he led the creation of multiple Virgin businesses, including Virgin Money, Virgin Voyages and Virgin Hotels. Anthony founded the Virgin Hotels Group and served as its CEO from 2009-2012. Prior to joining Virgin, Anthony was a Principal at Venrock, the venture capital arm of the Rockefeller family office. During his six years there, Anthony worked closely with start-up founders to develop highly-disruptive products and scale their businesses through periods of rapid growth. Before Venrock, Anthony held strategy, product marketing, and business development roles at Ericsson (formerly Telcordia Technologies/Bell Labs) where he was on the founding team of the voice-over-IP software business unit and authored the first product spec for the company’s “soft-switch” telecom server. Telcordia was acquired by Ericsson for $1.15 billion. Anthony earned an AB, magna cum laude, from Princeton University where he was awarded the New York Herald Prize and was a Rhodes Scholar national finalist. He also earned an MBA from Harvard Business School.
