Bio

Ever since I was a young child, recycling and waste reduction had always been a part of my family life. I come from an entrepreneurial, blue collar family. My father owned and operated a construction business and my mother owned and operated an in-home daycare. My parents were thrifty and resourceful because for them it meant more to use less and waste less. They were budget conscious so buying only what you needed and less of what you didn’t was the only way to always have for a rainy day. My father would have my brother and I saving cans in large bags until we had enough for a few $20s. My mother would make sure to clean every recyclable and either reuse old butter tubs as Tupperware and place everything that she couldn’t reuse in our recycling bin outside. My father would forage at the metals scrap yard for electronics and old appliances extracting copper from old AC units and other metals with value. He had an eye for it all. He honestly enjoyed finding what he called treasure. Always saying the classic statement “One man’s junk is another man’s treasure.” My parents together had a garden and would compost just because it was a part of their way of life. As if it were a natural part of being human. As I grew up and moved out, I was conditioned to do everything I was taught. It was second nature. And now I spend my days helping our clients realize what I was taught for so many years. Following eight years with DC Environmental, I founded Waste Not Consulting, a sustainable waste management company that helps our clients increase their understanding around waste diversion and reduction and execute programs that exemplify this. Our diverse set of services includes waste diversion consulting, recycling program development, implementation and management, waste brokering, zero waste strategic planning, benchmarking, waste monitoring and tracking, waste audits, TRUE zero waste certification consulting, and training and educational workshops. Our mission is to have a positive environmental impact by reducing waste through our advanced recycling programs and landfill diversion. In addition to being the Principal at WNC, I enjoy spending lots of quality time with my family and friends in Oceanside. My husband and I have two awesome kiddos who keep our schedules packed with chaos, fun and lots of love.
