I’ve been at bp for over 30 years, joining right after graduating from University College Dublin in 1991. Before that, I grew up on a small farm in County Kerry, Ireland – and was the first member of my family to go to university. I’ve been fortunate to enjoy some incredible experiences while working here – from the North Sea to Alaska, to the Gulf of Mexico and Vietnam. I can honestly say – I love working for bp. In February 2020 when I became our chief executive officer, we set a new course for the company – announcing our net zero ambition – and our new purpose of reimagining energy for people and our planet. Since then, we’ve laid out a strategy to transform bp from an International Oil Company to an Integrated Energy Company. And we’re focussing on helping to solve the energy trilemma – the need for an energy system that can deliver energy that is secure, affordable and lower carbon – while delivering long-term value for our shareholders. I use LinkedIn to discuss issues that really matter to me, like the future of energy, mental health, inclusivity and more. I’m here to engage – so please let me know your thoughts and reactions. One thing to add – I get help running this from colleagues at bp, and even then can’t reply to everything. But I personally read and reply to as much as I can.
