What is driving me are change, innovation and entrepreneurship. These are the integral elements of my professional life in eCommerce, cross-border commerce, postal & logistics and consulting services, mainly in the field of startups. I have spent most of my professional life in the postal & logistics sector. The past 10 to 15 years have exposed this industry to a fundamental change process. The traditional mail business is breaking away, but eCommerce, parcel business and digitization provide plenty of opportunities for logistics providers and other companies, many of which are innovative startups. As Chairman of the Postal Innovation Platform (PIP) I actively promote innovation within the postal & logistics sector. PIP is an open platform, launched under the umbrella of Ecole Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL), George Mason University (VA, USA) in cooperation with Swiss Post, the Universal Postal Union (UPU) and other partners, driving innovation and identifying opportunities for postal & logistics players. In addition, I launched my own company in cross-border wine trade. Shipping wine and other alcoholic beverages cross-border is facing - even in the European Union - tremendous obstacles, with overwhelming bureaucracy as well as confusing tax and duty rules in place. Through Vinaficio we created a unique system that overcomes those barriers and makes it easy and transparent to ship wine and other alcoholic beverages cross-border. Simplicity, transparency and legality are the cornerstones of the system. To this administrative network we added an e-marketplace for the European market. Today I use my experiences, network and knowledge to develop my own businesses and to accompany startups or other companies that want to gain foothold in the postal & logistics or eCommerce sector. I am an entrepreneur, adviser and facilitator and eager to exchange with everyone on innovation, opportunities and cooperation.
