Bio

After his postdoc at the University of Alberta, Bev was a professor at Trinity Western University for two years and then spent 5 years as a researcher at Fiberglas Canada. Dr. Christian then joined the electronics manufacturing industry at Nortel in Belleville, Ontario where he ran a materials lab for 10 years. He won several awards, including three President's Awards for his environmental work. For almost 15 years he then was at Blackberry where he was at the end the Director of Product Integrity. His groups included: the Materials Interconnect Lab, the Materials Research Group and Reliability. After a very short time at the University of Maryland, he came home to Canada. He is currently a project facilitator for the High Density Packaging User Group and an Adjunct Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering and Mechatronics of the University of Waterloo. His specific areas of interest include: solderability, lead free solders, environmental issues and contamination. He is a member of ASM and SMTA. Bev has been named a Member of Technical Distinction and an International Leader of the SMTA. He also sits on several of the standards committees of the IPC, where he chairs IPC 3-11g Corrosion of Metal Finishes Task Group. He is the recognized chemical expert by the Canadian Standards Council for the Canadian portion of IEC TC 111. He is an active stamp collector.
