I have more than 25 years of experience from both academia and industry within the area of recombinant protein expression for cellular assay development and recombinant protein production in a large variety of cellular systems At the section for Radiation Biology I developed cellular assays of EGF receptor activation to study its implication in the metastastic phenotype of cancer cells. At the department of Genetics at the University of Copenhagen I developed in vivo assays for analyzing the Toll receptor pathway in D.melanogaster and S2 insect cells. At Pharmexa, I generated the necessary genetic constructions needed for all the different projects based on recombinant expression of proteins. During my last 5 years at Pharmexa I was the sole responsible for keeping the molecular biology department at Pharmexa at “state of the art” level. moreover, I was deeply involved in many other upstream tasks in the projects, with the overall goal of delivering highly expressed proteins in both prokaryotic and eukaryotic cell systems for the downstream processes and for in vivo testing. At the Novo Nordisk Foundation Center for Protein Research, I have been heavily involved in the establishment and running of the Protein Production Unit (PPU). At the Center for Biosustainability I am leading a project aimed at the development of CHO cell lines optimised for the production of recombinant proteins.
