Throughout my career, I have had the opportunity to develop robotic and automation solutions for a wide variety of problems. In developing custom tools, automated systems, and new processes, I have touched a numerous industries such as aerospace, automotive, defense, food, and packaging to name a few. At Southwest Research Institute, I am the technical lead for robotic inkjet printing. Initially, I developed much of the process for utilizing inkjet printing hardware in three-dimensional space. Once the base technology was developed, I worked to bring in multiple client-funded projects. I also managed teams of mechanical, electrical, and software engineers, as well as technicians and suppliers to develop unique robotic printing systems. The goal of robotic inkjet printing is to apply two-dimensional fluids onto three-dimensional surfaces such as the exterior of an aircraft. Another role I perform at Southwest Research Institute is managing the Intelligent Machines Program Area. In this role, I lead engineers in business development in the area of automated machinery. Part of my time is spent meeting with clients, developing concepts, and writing proposals. Additionally, I guide others by steering the technical direction of the program area and mentoring younger staff in their business development efforts. If you want to talk about automation or robotics, send me a note and I will be happy to see what myself, Southwest Research Institute, or the automation industry may be able to offer!
