Bio

My 18 years of sustainability and climate resilience strategy development can be summarized in four areas of expert focus: ''𝗕𝘂𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝗮𝘀 𝗠𝘂𝘁𝘂𝗮𝗹'' 𝗰𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗲𝘀 𝘃𝗮𝗹𝘂𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗴𝗵 𝗵𝗼𝗹𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗰 𝗱𝗲𝗰𝗶𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗺𝗮𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴. I developed this strategy to help organizations simplify, align, formalize and achieve shared goals to create value for multiple stakeholders. For example, Link REIT’s ‘Net Zero 2035’ charts a pathway for the Group to reach an ambitious target. Beyond carbon efficiency, the plan includes mapping career paths for young talent; it educates and supports business partners to start their own decarbonization journeys and ensures Link REIT minimizes emerging financial and operational impacts as it transitions to a low-carbon future. 𝗖𝗮𝗽𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘃𝗮𝗹𝘂𝗲 𝗶𝘀 𝗲𝗾𝘂𝗮𝗹𝗹𝘆 𝗶𝗺𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗮𝗻𝘁 𝗮𝘀 𝗰𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗶𝘁. I help organizations institute integrated thinking and value creation as part of sustainability and climate resilience action plans. Past initiatives include assessing future energy trends, producing climate impact reports to identify at-risk physical assets and establishing protocols to monitor ESG performance. Value has been captured in the form of lower cost of capital via sustainable finance; realizing some $10M HKD revenue from renewable energy projects, and avoiding $125M HKD of ongoing operations costs. Socially, a diversified investor base reduces stock price volatility and the Business as Mutual approach has established stronger relationships across the value chain, leading to a resilient and agile organization. 𝗚𝗹𝗼𝗯𝗮𝗹 𝗰𝗼𝗹𝗹𝗮𝗯𝗼𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗹𝗹 𝗿𝗲𝗾𝘂𝗶𝗿𝗲𝘀 𝗹𝗼𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝗮𝗽𝗽𝗹𝗶𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻. As co-chair of the PRI Real Estate Advisory Group, I steer efforts on current global business issues while ensuring APAC-specific issues and implementation challenges are on the Group’s radar. I have coordinated working groups comprising financial, insurance and real estate institutions to develop TCFD-compliant reporting protocols, assess positive impact and identify emerging climate-related social risks. 𝗡𝘂𝗿𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗳𝘂𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲 𝗴𝗲𝗻𝗲𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝘀𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗳𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹𝘀. As an adjunct associate professor at HKUST, I teach post-graduate courses in environmental policy and direct a business sustainability focused research group. I have shared my corporate experience with over 600 students in the past 10 years with many now employed in sustainability roles across a spectrum of industries in APAC.
