I am currently a Senior Open Source Program Manager currently in the Microsoft Open Source Programs Office. I previously managed the Student Developer Pack for GitHub. I have launched 7 new partners in the pack, coordinated multiple events on the teams' behalf, and launched the new GitHub Apprenticeship Program. For 6 years I managed the Google Summer of Code (GSoC) program, an online, international, philanthropic university outreach program that has served 11,000 students and 515 open source organizations – nonprofit and for-profit – in 103 countries, including many in the developing world. I worked hard and collaborated with many talented people across the company to grow that program and serve more participants, more effectively – through promotion and outreach, building partner relationships, and improving program infrastructure and operations. In my previous roles at Google, I gained managed a range of complex projects internally, within the U.S., and internationally. I am passionate about building communities and bringing technology to people all over the world. I am an Emeritus Board Director for the Open Source Initiative. I also served as Secretary and Treasurer of the MetaBrainz Foundation, which supports free, open access to data by building community-maintained databases and making them available in the public domain or under Creative Commons licenses. I've also volunteered with the Center for Domestic Peace and am inspired by a variety of social, animal welfare, and environmental causes.
