Bio

Hudson Cook, LLP counsels financial services companies on state and federal consumer and commercial financial services law. Our nationwide team includes former officials with federal regulatory agencies and former in-house lawyers from banks, sales finance companies and other financial services institutions. We represent cutting-edge fintech companies, banks using fintech services and leading investors in the sector, many of which have unique, new models. We apply our knowledge of federal and state regulations to these innovative business models, providing clients with analysis of state licensing requirements applicable to brokering, marketing, purchasing, and servicing of consumer originations; the review and establishment of partnerships with depository institutions and technology companies; development of alternative lending and mobile and online payment platforms; and compliance advice around consumer credit, privacy and data security laws. We provide legal services to a variety of creditor-adjacent companies, including debt settlement companies, lead generators, money transmitters and other money services businesses, and payment processors. We advise traditional financial institutions on how to mitigate risk and leverage partnerships with innovative technology service providers in compliance with evolving state and federal regulations.
