An independent consultant in Payments and Mobile Money, primarily focused on market level initiatives mainly in the Digital Financial Services interoperability space. Led the Tanzania domestic DFS interoperability project for IFC, fulfilled various roles in enabling DFS interoperability in Uganda and Mozambique and is involved in various DFS interoperability initiatives in West and East Africa, also advises on DFS interoperability initiatives outside of Africa. In addition to payment consulting is an active Angel investor in Africa - mainly focusing on areas where technology can enhance livelihoods. Have been involved within the payments industry for over 20 years. Prior to the current life chapter held the role of General Manager for Visa in sub-Saharan Africa and was responsible for Visa’s business across 25 African markets. Before joining Visa, was a Senior Manager at Nedbank Card and fulfilled various roles in the payment space in South Africa. Past independent chairman of Zoona, an independent Mobile Money provider in Africa. Holds a Bachelors of Commerce from the University of Stellenbosch, a MBA from the University of Cape Town, attended the Accelerated Development Programme at the London Business School, holds a Post Graduate and a MPhil in Futures Studies at the University of Stellenbosch Business School.
