Bio

Imagine someone came up to you handed you the class catalog for a University and said take any classes that sound interesting to you. The cost is covered. This was the gift of working in Higher Education. I was fortunate enough to be given that gift and I used it as often as I could. In my life outside of Grand Valley I spend my time working on and riding bicycles, and volunteering with community organizations. Those worlds combined when I started volunteering around Grand Rapids with organizations that focused on cycling. Sometimes in an advocacy role and sometimes working to educate youth and adults. My family was an early adopter to technology and the internet. We purchased our first home computer when I was in 2nd grade and I can still remember my father bringing home new modems as soon as they were released (remember the time before 56K modems?). Later on it was checking message boards to get BASIC code so I could program Mario Brothers to my calculator in Middle School. I have been enthralled by STEM ever since.
