Bio

LinkedIn messages are about the worst way to reach me and normally go unread. Email is best, if we are not connected you can find my email on my Cambridge Judge Business School faculty page. Alongside my ongoing faculty role in Cambridge University, I run Carbon13, the venture builder for the climate emergency, which I founded in 2019. This marks a return to the entrepreneurial path for me-- I had been an entrepreneur in the 90s and early 00s before joining academia in 2006. Carbon13 fosters innovators who will collectively reduce the carbon emissions base by at least 400 million tonnes, or 1% of global CO2e emissions. We have made 44 pre-seed investments since September 2021 and are scaling fast. My work over the past 18 years has had two facets: entrepreneurship teaching and advisory work and strategy/innovation management teaching and consulting. Entrepreneurship Teaching and Advisory I have taught entrepreneurship inside academia (CJBS, UCL, ESCP Europe, London Business School) and outside it (Goldman Sachs 10ksb, London Stock Exchange ELITE in London, Milan and Beirut, New Entrepreneurs Foundation, European Institute of Innovation and Technology, UK Business Growth Builder, ConceptionX, UK-Lebanon Tech Hub.) I was formerly programme director of the MSc in Technology Entrepreneurship at UCL, and founded and ran the Cambridge Judge Launchpad (Masters and PGDip in Entrepreneurship). Strategy/Innovation Management Teaching and Consulting I have taught strategy, strategic management and innovation management inside academia (CJBS, UCL, Imperial College, London Business School in London and Dubai, LSE) and for many large and midsized organisations outside it, for some of whom I have also consulted (Omnicom, Marshalls, FPE Capital, JLL, Sberbank, Lloyds Banking Group, Santander, Porsche, the UK Ministry of Defence, BAE Systems, IBM, the UAE Prime Minister’s Office, the Sanger Institute, AstraZeneca.) I have also supported executive programmes at London Business School, including Executing Strategy for Results, Making Innovation Happen and Exploiting Digital Disruption. I have a particular specialism in strategy in ecosystems (eg, technology partnering strategy), as well as a love of teaching pricing strategy and strategy execution.
