Bio

I'm a front-end developer and have been working full-time since 2008. I am currently the Front-End Engineering Manager for SmileDirectClub in Nashville, Tennessee. Since 2015, I've been working in the healthcare industry. As a result, in addition to standard front-end chops, I have a strong background in accessibility and experience dealing with sensitive information such as PHI. As I've grown in my career, giving back to the community has become a point of particular focus for me. My Medium blog posts with front-end tips collectively get 20,000 page views a month. I regularly post code samples on Codepen. I have spoken at many conferences over the last few years. I also am a site leader for an organization called Make A Mark, which is a 12-hour design and development marathon benefitting local humanitarian causes. I firmly believe that time away from the keyboard is essential. I usually wake up each morning before 5 am to train for triathlons. It sounds crazy, but training for the beating of 140.6 miles in an IRONMAN has made me a better front-end developer! I can't count how many times I've solved a pesky bug in my head while looking at the bottom of the pool or out on my bike. My wife and I currently live near Franklin on the south side of Nashville, Tennessee.
