Berkeley Coding Academy teaches Python, Data Science, Machine Learning, and AI. We offer a summer intensive and 1-1 classes for teenagers to learn programming fundamentals, analyze big data and build machine learning models year round. I developed Berkeley Coding Academy to bring life-changing programming skills to a larger audience online. I currently teach Math, Programming, and Data Science at the Independent Study Program of Berkeley High School where I also work with Home & Hospital Instruction. I have worked with Berkeley teenagers for 18 years. I am the author of Hands-on Gradient Boosting with XGBoost and Scikit-learn (2020), and the lead author of the Python Workshop (2019), which is featured as an online course with Packt Publishing. I also regularly contribute articles for Towards Data Science, one of the most popular Medium blogs. Additional education projects have included Programming Power, a coding club to support girls and underserved students in computer science; AI/Machine Learning For Youth, a coding club for all Berkeley Unified School District students during distance learning; YourClock, an iPhone app developed with students that tracks your time spent in the universe using original units; and One Student, One Class, for which I taught Bay Area students math enrichment and computer science advancement. My research includes developing a new basketball 3-point statistic (3NG) that combines percentage with 3-pointers made, and writing an original piecewise linear transformation that converts any thumbs-up / thumbs-down system into percentiles with skewness intact (Towards Data Science).
