I’m a Fulbright Scholar and MIT Sloan Fellow who believes that entrepreneurship and innovation are key drivers of social change. I started a social enterprise that aims to change media representation of disability. I want to be a venture capitalist when I grow up. My skillset and experience is really varied; in short, I'm an Artist-turned-Humanitarian with an MBA. Functionally, I'm a marketing, communications, and product management expert. Thematically, my expertise expands to social enterprise and (humanitarian) innovation. My passion lies where these worlds meet. Before my Innovation Fellowship at MIT, I worked at the UN Refugee Agency (UNHCR) innovation program, where I led efforts to engage staff, partners, and refugees on innovation applied to humanitarian and global development contexts. I also worked for 6 months as the Innovation Unit's Deputy Lead. I worked on accelerators and entrepreneurship solutions to displacement. I also led strategy for corporate innovation and employee activation. My focus now is leveraging the capital and expertise of the private sector to solve complex challenges. I get really excited about transforming how companies and organizations think about and achieve sustainable social impact. I long to see more investment and empowerment of entrepreneurs in our current models of aid and development. Before joining the UN, I worked in South Africa, traveling around townships in Johannesburg and Cape Town, giving entrepreneurial training and mentorship to asylum-seekers who were entrepreneurs. My earliest career experiences as an arts educator were incredibly fulfilling, and my deepest passion is for children and young people, in particular girls education. I served a 3 months placement in a juvenile detention center for girls, using theatre as a means to manage anger. I now sit on the board of a Ugandan NGO dedicated toward the empowerment of girls and women through entrepreneurship. If you work in the Impact Investing, Corporate Sustainability, Foundation/Philanthropic funding space, or if you have an exciting marketing communications or social impact project to work on, I'd love to connect with you! My passion areas are health, environment, forced displacement, and creative industries. I'm always up for a chat on new solutions for what I think are our biggest human and environmental challenges. I also write on commission about any of these issues.
